The event was attended by Oleg Matytsin, President of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), Maxim Urazov, Director General of the ANO “Executive Directorate of the 29th Winter Universiade Krasnoyarsk 2019”, Elena Bezdenezhnykh, Vice-President of Nornickel, and Artyom Metelev, Co-Chair of the Council of Association of Russian Volunteering Centers.
‘The volunteers programme of the Winter Universiade 2019, launched on May 21, is a great opportunity for the Russian young people to become a part of a major international event. As of today, we have received over 3000 applications for the volunteering positions, most of which came from central Russia, and the Far East. This is a sign of the growing interest towards Siberia, and our home region, the Krasnoyarsk Territory,’ told Maxim Urazov about the Games volunteers selection programme, which was officially launched in Krasnoyarsk.
Moreover, the Director General of the ANO “Executive Directorate of the 29th Winter Universiade Krasnoyarsk 2019” made special reference to the comfortable working conditions, which would be provided for all the volunteers. During the press conference, the special branded outfits for the volunteers were demonstrated. The warm winter outfit includes a jacket, trousers, a hat, a scarf, mittens, and a sweatshirt. All the volunteers will also be provided with meals, free pass for all the means of public transport, etc.
Elena Bezdenezhnykh, Vice-President of Nornickel, the General Partner of the Games, stressed the importance of the social projects for the business. ‘Nornickel sees supporting Winter Universiade 2019 as investing in the future. These people will become adults, great specialist, who will shape the future of our country, let alone our company. Nornickel has been no. 1 in the Territory for several years now, and we considered it a priority to be the first to support Winter Universiade 2019. It is a world-level project, unique for Russia, and it is an unprecedented event for the Siberian region and the people of Krasnoyarsk. According to Oleg Matytsin, the most important motivation for the Winter Universiade 2019 volunteers is the wish to become a part of a major sports event. ‘The successful social adaptation securing the successful future requires experience available for the volunteers at the major sports events. 2019 Winter Universiade is a very special project in terms of the Russian youth policy; it demonstrates the successful interaction between public bodies and business. This will, in turn, allow for the secure and sustainable future for the young people.’
In conclusion, Artyom Metelev, Co-Chair of the Council of Association of Russian Volunteering Centers, provided an example of how the volunteering experience helps achieve career objectives.
